Plant taxonomy
Plant taxonomy is the branch of botany which deals with the description, identification, naming of plants and their classification into different groups according to their resemblances and differences mainly in their morphological characters.



 Aims of plant taxonomy
1.to describe, identify, name a plant and fix it’s ranks in a  recognized system of classification.
2.To establish a suitable method for identification, nomenclature and description of all kinds of plants.
3.To arrange all kinds of plants into a scheme of classification that will show their true relations.
4.to know the habitat of plants and environment where they grown.
5.to know the geographical distribution of plants.
6.to express the phylogenetic relationship.
7.to understand the evolutionary process and pathway.
8.to provide an inventory of plant resources-local, regional and continental.
