v  On the basis of ph values or Acidity
·         Alkaline foods: foods with pH values with the basic range. Usually this are of pH values more than 7.0. e.g. aged sea foods, old eggs, lye hominy(alkaline processed corn cobs)
·         Low acid foods: food with ph values between 5.0-6.8. E.g. meat, fish, poultry, dairy products, vegetables. The food in this group is also termed as non acid food.
·         Acid foods: foods with pH values between 4.5-3.7 are called acid foods. E.g. fruits such as pineapple, orange tomatoes, peaches, pears etc fall into this class.
·         High acid foods: foods with pH values between 3.7-2.3 easy berries, pickles, fermented foods, lemon juice, lime juice etc. a summary of the acidity classification of foods is presented in table 6.1, P-165(The tech. of food preservation N.W. defroster forth edition)

  1. You don't have to be eating foods that you ordinarily wouldn't even consider and you don't have to be stuck drinking a concoction that tastes like castor oil every day either.
