FOODS and TECHNOLOGY


DEFINATION OF FOOD:
v  Any substance that can be metabolized by an animal to give energy and build tissue.
v  Any substance that is used as a source of nourishment, “Food and drink”.
v  Any substance that is or can be consumed by living organisms, especially by eating, in order to sustain life, any thing intended to supply energy or nourishment of an entity or idea.



FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY:
Food science and technology is the application of basic science to the management of foods from the time of production until there is by the consumer. It is concerned with optimum with food quality and quantity, nutritional status and safety, means of production, preservation, distribution and utilization.
