Plasma membrane
Plasma membrane or ectoplasm is an extremely thin, delicate, selectively permeable membrane lies below the cell wall. It is composed of lipid (40%) and protein (60%). The thickness of this membrane is about 75 to 100 Å. There are two models of the structure of plasma membrane- unit membrane model and Fluid mosaic model.
Functions:
Protects the protoplasm
Controls the entrance and exit of substances into the cell and out of it.
