Family: Order:

Family:
A family is a group of genera which show general structural resemblances to one another mainly in their floral organs. Such as there are free lateral stipules, epicalyx, twisted aestivation of corolla, monadelphous stamens, unilocular anther, axile placentation etc. in the genera Gossypium, Hibiscus, Thespasia etc. So the above mentioned genera belong to the family Malvaceae.


Order:
An order is a group of families which shows close resemblances to one another. Such as, Malvaceae, Tiliaceae, Bombacaceae families are under the order Malvales.
